Because apparently a discursive has to have many pov's and you can't just rant on about one thing e.g. the lack of connection in the modern world (or something)?

Yes, discursive writing is meant to explore multiple perspectives on a topic, rather than focusing on a single viewpoint or personal rant. It invites reflection, presenting balanced, varied arguments, often without arriving at a clear conclusion. In contrast, a rant tends to be one-sided and emotionally charged.

For example, if you're writing about the lack of connection in the modern world, you could explore:

  • How social media and technology might create distance between people, replacing real-world connections with virtual ones.
  • Acknowledge that technology can also foster connections across distances, allowing people to stay in touch with loved ones, collaborate on projects, and participate in global movements.
  • Older generations may view modern communication as disconnected, while younger generations might feel more connected through digital means.
  • How different cultures adapt to or resist the change in how people communicate and connect.
This approach balances various points of view, giving the reader a comprehensive look at the issue.

I hope this helps 😀
