How to write cover-letters... and various other tips for applications & interviews!

Since I get asked this question so often both in person and via PM on BoS, I thought I would share these links from MyCareer on;

The purpose of a cover letter: http://content.mycareer.com.au/advice-research/resume/the-purpose-of-a-cover-letter.aspx

How to write a cover letter: http://content.mycareer.com.au/advice-research/resume/writing-a-winning-cover-letter.aspx

Tips and Tricks for writing cover letters: http://content.mycareer.com.au/advice-research/resume/cover-letter-tips-and-tricks.aspx

And also this thread from another board within BoS on guide to getting an internship or graduate job;

http://community.boredofstudies.org/showthread.php?t=112394&highlight=cover+letter

Hope this helps! :)

Agreed- the UNSW site is excellent for the university student (or high school student). Maybe should sticky this thread as a generic tips for job applications and interviews.

Types of Interview Questions: http://www.careers.unsw.edu.au/careerEd/jobApplications/interviews/questionTypes.aspx
Explains the different types of interview questions (e.g. behavioural) with some background and approaches to answering them.

Sample Interview Questions: http://www.careers.unsw.edu.au/careerEd/jobApplications/interviews/questionSamples.aspx
... includes sample questions if you are looking for preparation but bear in mind, most people find the Big 4 interviews at least to be very very different in terms of the specific questions mentioned in that link.
