Hrm, i was thinking about this the other day.

I do 12 units. 4 maths, 4 english, 2 eco and 2 bus. Now my questions is this:

Say I completely stuff up in business. but I do well in the rest of the subjects. Business WONT count right? hehe, this might seem a stupid question, but im confused about the 4 subjects minimum thing. I mean if business wont count, then that means i have technically done only 3 subjects. right?

Now I can see you arguing that i have to attempt 4 subjects. But this is a loophole then, isnt it? A person could then do 10 units with 3 subjects and take one subject worth 2 units on as extra but not try in this extra subject . . . in which case it completely voids the 3 subject rule.

Hehe, im prolly missing something, can someone explain to me? And what IM worried about is, are my 2eco and 2 bus locked in? as in, these two subjects will count no matter what?

the 4 subject rule only means u have to ATTEMPT 4- u can fail the 4th,
IE - your business doesn't have to count

'You and Your UAI' booklet, if you haven't received it already can be downloaded at the following address:

http://www.uac.edu.au/pubs/pdf/uaibook_2003_web.pdf

UAI Rules, direct from UAC.
Rule 1 - Eligibility

To be eligible for a UAI you must satisfactorily complete at least 10 units (including at least two units of English) of UAI courses.

Courses must include at least three UAI courses of two units or greater and at least four subjects.
Just to reinforce what dopez has said, you must include the courses, but you do not have to count the course, in the calculation of your UAI.

That is,
You can include 20 units, but only 10 will count.

Equally, you can include 12 units, but only 10 units will count. :)

What they have done is mean :(

As if 2U Maths, 3U maths, 4U Maths, 2U English, 3U English, 4U English ain't different subjects.

You do different things.

That's already plenty to learn and they considered it one subject :(

Good thing I don't do that :)

*kisses Physics and Chemistry* - *Curses at SDD*

But yeah if you purposely bomb out one subject because it won't count is half risky because 4U maths and English is pretty hard.

You might bomb out on one in the exam and have no backup.

Also it might look bad on your certificate - though no one cares :p

Sum advice for you (and I don't mean to be picky).
Never assume that you will do heaps good in a subject.
Cos once you screw it up, you feel like you screwed up ur UAI.
Its what happen to me in a subject :p
I took it for granted that I would do extemely well in it,
so I didn't work that hard on it throughout the year.
And obviously, I didn't get what I was planning to for that subject in the exam from my estimation :(
So yeh, juss a heads up for you in that department :p
