How do these Units work that I keep seeing in everyone's signatures, etc....
I'm from Queensland so I've got a different school system, but I thought it'd just be interesting to know what the hell things like...."English Advanced, 3/4U" mean, or "Mathematics, 7/49".

Mathematics 7/49 is their internal rank in the subject, lol.

Basically, the minimum requirement for the HSC is that you do 12 units in year 11 and 10 units in year 12. A normal course is 2 units and an extension course is 1 unit (with the exception of Maths Extension 2, and some strange courses like Studies of Religion I). So if you're doing 3U English, that means 2 units of English (Advanced) plus 1 unit of English Extension 1.

(With Maths Extensions, 3U Maths is Mathematics (2U) + Maths Extension 1 (1U), but 4U Maths is considered as Maths Extension 1 (2U) + Maths Extension 2 (2U). It's a bit strange but it's fairer given how much work it involves.)
