Is it just me or does Intel's naming conventions defy all normal logic? Gone are the days of just looking at clockspeed/price and picking a nice balance with RAM.

Anyway, I have a Core2 Duo in my Macs and find that their performance is great for my needs when I run WinXP on it (surfing net, syncing iPod, managing my 'archive' hard drives of 2tb, and playing occasional casual game- nothing hardcore or the latest... i have an xbox360 for that). Therefore I figured I'd get a dual core CPU again.

But when I looked at Dell's website I see there are these new naming conventions intel core i3, etc.. and tried to Google it but nothing seems to indicate whether these are dual core CPU's or not. Are they the way to go?

ps. Any suggestions on places to buy is also great. I care about warranty/service if possible but am willing to go cheaper. Want to keep it under $800. Don't need an LCD as I have a 22" LCD.
