hey, i'min yr 11 and i just moved here from QLD, so im not that familar with some parts of the nsw system. i got pretty high expectations on me, at least above 90 for the UAI, but the thing is, my preliminary results arent that crach hot

my results so far are

General Maths- 90%ish
Legal- 75%ish
Economics- 60%ish
Business- 80%ish
Modern History- 70%ish
English Advanced- 75%ish

i was wondering, are ur prelim results an indication of ur HSC?
also, is it possible to get into the 90 UAI region by doing these subjects?

lol I went to QLD once. The petrol was cheap.

Anyway, in regards to your question- no, don't take anything from your preliminary year's results as concrete indicators of what you're going to get in HSC. Judging by your marks, I'd say you're set already.

Why'd you wanna move to slutty Sydney (i'm assuming- cos all other places of NSW are shite LOL cal) anyway?

Your results this year don't necessarily mean anything...Year 11 is just a trial before Year 12. Basically, its just to see where you can improve in regards to studying and just to get used to the ranking system. You can get 100 as a UAI with those subjects. Everyone talks about how physics and chem (etc) scale really well so if you want to do well than do those subjects...THAT IS RUBBISH and don't let anyone tell you that...Sure it might scale well, but you always should choose subjects you like/

If you like them then naturally you will do well in them. You can get whatever UAI you want with whatever subjects you have. Your marks are pretty good now, and if you put effort into studying and pay attention in class (time management is also important), then you won't have a problem getting 90+

I'd recommend taking advice from students who have actually completed 90% of their HSC or more.

Prelims don't mean shit.
