A real life political rally practically on our door-step. Also the event to probably mark the true beginning of next years election.

Wait for it -
I propose an NCAP meet-up. I believe this forum to be the flagship of the entire BoS community and that we've got the numbers on this one, comrades!

What's a trip to Melbourne in the scheme of things? Hang the politics, this is history!

[like-minded sentiments and accolades ensue]

Fraid I cant hear you above the roaring accolades.

Incidently, I dont think this should be buried in the IR thread Gen.

Incidently not implying that the above is Gen

I don't particularly like the MCG (I can't stand Cricket and Aussie Rules just isn't my cup of tea), but I must admit that it's a good venue for such an event.

Later this year I was going to head down to Melbourne (and Adelaide), and I have always wanted to attend a decent political rally... Well, whatever happens, I'll be sure to watch and listen to the coverage of the event with great interest.

Last and only political rally I went to was the Students Against War one. That turned out great.

Why is it that everytime I see location: Newtown I wonder what the fuck you know about the 'common man'?

I'm actually curious about your background - upper class anglo wanker or no?
Given what I know about you and your political inclinations, I think that it's only fair that the same question be thrown back in your face (as you'd expect). What do you know about the 'common man', wikiwiki? What do any of us here know about the 'common man', for that matter?

i'm from lower-middle class rural nsw actually

i love the lengths you and waf go to defend yourselves personally
your character profiles go to lengths to sound reasonable but most arguments you offer are quite extreme
what's this young labor party shit? in regard to any issue i've seen you post you've bent over backwards to somehow frame howard's plans as 'liberal'

Yeah! That's right! The Cronulla Riots happened and WE STILL HAVEN'T ARRESTED ALL THE LEBANESE.

Oh, did I just provide an example of why political activism is ignored?

:bomb:
there are Rallies and then there are RIOTS - to very different words and meanings and effects and reactions.

bud-- u need to relax.

I have an armband with your name on it (not literally, in both name or existence)

Melbourne's a bit of a dive in my books, but maybe this will go down as the last gasp of militant unionism of the kind that Maggie broke in the UK.
