Hi!
I would really appreciate it if I could get a uai prediction please, just to see how much i need to pull up my marks to get over 98 (never gonna happen :()
i go to a selective school ranked about...ummm somewhere between 40th and 50th, leaning closer towards 40th i think. *STRESS*

Here are my marks
SUBJECT-------MARK--------RANK
Adv Eng 91 4/128
Ext 1 Eng 41 15/38
Maths Ext1 80 17/49
Maths Ext 2 76 16/21...ergh
Biology 86 11/32
Chemistry 86 17/44
Physics 83 19/47..ergh again

Please give me some hope atleast
Thank you

the ranks wont matter for shit, if u get those marks in the exams and u still rank how u did at school, they cant take ur marks away from u and ull get into the 90s easily. on the other hand if u get way in the 90s for all ur exams dont expect 99 UAI cos ur ranks will put ur moderated exam mark or wateva down to wateva rank u were in assessments...

I am the one
actually, rank is more important then mark. 90s+ is very possible if u increase the ranks a little

yes RANK IS MORE IMPORANT THEN MARK... but if he is gettin good marks with a bad rank, they cant take that away from him... and wat is the point in increasing ur rank in exams because they will only giv u the exam mark that corrolates to ur assessment rank. eg. if he gets 80% in assessments and is ranked 30/50 then he gets 90% in the exam which ranks him at 20/30 for his class/year, then he is only gonna be given the mark of the person that came 30/50 in the exams, which mite only be at 80%. go read some other forums on moderating etc

read above... or if u didnt understand read this:
if he improves his rank it isnt gonna matter cos they base ur hsc mark on ur assessment rank. read some of the threads on moderating etc.

You keep your own exam mark, no one will take that away from you. So if he does get 90 for the EXAM, then thats that. The exam mark that correlates to your assessment rank will form your assessment mark. These two are then averaged to get your HSC mark. So theres plenty of room for improvement.

You cant change your assessment rank.. and its this rank that determines your assessment mark (based on your cohort's HSC performance). Take for example my ext 1 maths marks from last year. I was ranked 16th and for a mark of 42/50. So the 42 wouldve been equivalent to the 16th highest exam mark in my grade. My own exam mark was 47 however and so averaging these two gave me a 45. Basically, half your marks come from the HSC (which teachers tell you again and again) so its not over till its over.

Mid 90s I think high 90s is not beyond your reach with a slightly higher 3/4 U maths mark. Don't listen to Not that Bright, school ranked 40-50 is decent and won't hurt you a bit with those marks.
