i need to know opinions on the "ideas and values" associated with the genre of crime fiction.
values is a big one in ext1 i've noticed. and it's the one i find most annoying.
anyone got an opinion on this one? ideas and values?

is it just about the conflict of good and evil, order and disorder? us and them, kind of thing? and the observation of the suffering of the guilty party?
im reading my notes now... jsut stuff about the "dialectic of innocence and guilt".

anything else from anyone?? please?

I will include what I have already sent you to start the ball rolling:

Values in RIH: Values in a text are to do with what the author values, in other words, what kind of statement he/she is trying to make about something. It is often shown through values of the characters themselves.
So, one of the vaules is clearly his view of "Cosy School" crime fiction. He has parodyed this throught the play, showing its weaknesses.
A second value in the play is shown in hte critics with the idea of a "second string". There is a long-ish monlogue on the plight of the second in charge, which reaveals perhaps an aspiration for more respect, or maybe something else.
These are just 2 of the values in the play, but I hope I have shown you what you should be looking for, so that you kind find more yourself.
Ideas are like what you have in your post:
