a) find the equation of the focal chord through Q

the parabola is x^2= 4ay, the focus is (0,1) and Q is (2aq, aq^2)

also,
b) prove that the latus rectum is 4a

please answer :) i'm so desperate

y= x/2*(p+q)-apq is the general equation of a focal chord.

For the latus rectum proof. Use the equation of the focal chord, because the latus rectum is a focal chord. But also it is parallel to the directrix at y=-1.

Using "p" and "q"... are you sure this is a Mathematics question and not an Ext 1 question?

for those that asked, it is a question from my textbook for mathematics, not extension maths
