I want to major in Philosophy and International relations on my Arts side of my double degree. This semester for international relations I did 6 junior credit points. Next semester I'm looking to do a unit of study at the United States Study Centre - Intro to US Politics, which counts as a GOVT unit to my International Relations major, but it is a senior unit (I'm allowed to do it because the only prerequisite is 18 junior units from anywhere in the university)
However, for semester 1 next year, I want to do other senior units in international relations (International Security, for example), but it says for prerequisite, I need 12 junior credit points in GOVT. If I did Intro to US Politics, I would have 12 credit points - but only 6 credit points are junior credit points (the one from this semester). Since the entry requirements are 12 junior credit points from GOVT, and I've done 12 in total, but only 6 of them are junior and the other 6 are a senior unit - what happens? Would I still be able to do the senior unit I wish to in semester 1 of 2013?
The same story for philosophy. Next semester I'm doing critical thinking and philosophy of happiness - both are senior units with prerequisites of 12 credit points university wide, not philosophy specific. But other senior units in the course require 12 junior credit points in philosophy - but I'd have 12 senior credit points. Would this make much of a difference? Would I be able to do the other philosophy senior units in 2013 with 12 senior credit points in philosophy and not 12 junior credit points?
Thanks for the help!
