It differs from school to school.
You might have a class of people who only do 3u maths. Then you can do extension topics during 2u lessons and 3u topics during 2u lessons.
Or your school may combine the 2u and 3u people then you sometimes end up doing 2 topics at once. You do 2u topics in 2u lessons and 3u topics in 3u lessons.
