hey dus anyone have any info about indonesia as a cuture in relation to textiles an all that cause i have like no idea wat we have to no an icant find any info, all i no about is batik

we got note for Indonesia as sample examples so i can give you that
but i don't have notes coz i do India but anywayz...
Describe 2 factors that have influence the textile design
1. CLIMATE
*Indonesians wear leightweaight clothing due to their tropical climate, and
moderate to high tempuratures
*Customary attire for women consists of cotton blouse and batik sarong, while
men wear a shirt with pants or a sarong
*Western style t-shirts are popular as they are cool to wear
*Warm climate and high rainfall makes it the ideal climate to grow cotton
*Cotton is used to produse much of their daily and traditional clothing.
*Coton fabric provides Indonesia witht he perfect fibre for their Batik (wax resist)
and Ikat (tied or bound) designs
*These traditional skills are evident in their tradional costumed and ceremonial dress.
2. ETHNIC GROUPS
*Hundreds of years of migration from other Asian countries has created a mixture of over 100 different dialects
*Today more then 300 ethnic groups live in Indonesia, each with its own cultural identity.
*A number of religions ar common including Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu
*Indonesia has alot of cultures this is evident in their wide range of textile art
forms from the Balanese Batik sarongs, the Ikat design of Nusa Tenggara province
to the ornate gold embroidery and patterned silks of the Javanese
Descibe a Textile Art Form From Indonesia
SARONG -a peice of fabric, which is generally produced in batik process. Sarongs
can be sewn at each end and wrapped around the body or just wrapped and
draped.
*White or light cotton fabric is lightly traced witha design, which is filled with
molten wax and left to harden
*The cloth is immersed in a dye bath
*The dye is absorbed into the fabric witht the except for the wax areas.
*After the cloth is dyed the wax is scrapped away
*The process is repeated with different colour and designs
*The artform of Batik has been handed down through generations
*Colours of different Batik designs reflect the region where they were produced
Javanese use indigo, dark blue and brown. Status is shown through colour
unmarried women wear mauve.
*Modern Batik uses multi-coloured combination and often targets the tourist market.
*Wax is often stamped which results in less individual designs, but faster production
*Growth in the textile industry has resulted in the rotary printed patterns to
imitate traditional Batik patterns.
