Can someone please explain to me what in the world this question is asking...

$\noindent It's essentially asking you what kinds of statements can be proved using induction. For example, here are two propositions:$

$\noindent \textbf{Proposition 1.} If $f$ and $g$ are differentiable functions, then $\frac{d}{dx}(f(g(x))) = f'(g(x)) g'(x)$.$

$\noindent \textbf{Proposition 2.} For all integers $n\geq 3$, we have $n! > 2^{n-1}$.$

$\noindent One of these propositions clearly lends itself to induction and the other does not. Which one does, and why?$
