Here is there question:

The answer is pi = 3.14 units squared.

Can someone show me a worked solution?

The curve cuts the x-axis at x = -2, so the area is given by

$A = \int_{-2}^{7} \sqrt{x+2} $ d$x$

$= \frac{2}{3}\left [ (x+2)^{\frac{3}{2}} \right ]^7 _{-2}$

$= \frac{2}{3}\left [ 9^{\frac{3}{2}} - 0 \right ]$

$= \frac{2}{3}\times 27$

$= 18 \text{ square units}$ .
