I've been underperforming internally this year in my overall position. I am starting to get worried now. Is internal assessment really really important to the final mark?

yes it is

not only does it count towards 50% of your HSC its also indicative of what you will get in the HSC exam as well.

so say if you perform badly at school and get 60

but then own up the exam and get 90.

your HSC mark will only be 75.

so yes ites quite important. but luckily for internal assessment you can make up for some bad results whereas the HSC exam is the one and final exam worth everything you done in that whole year

Your interna assesment marks are worth 50%. your external exam is worth 50%as well.your internal marks r sent 2 the BOS where they undergo a process of moderation, this is done by mapping your internal mark 2 your hsc mark eg:

say u get 70 for your assesment and 75 for your hsc, your assesment mark becomes your hsc mark. then u just find the average between the 2 marks and theres your moderated mark.

in your case, just work 2 the best of your ability forget your past results and redeem yourself with trials and hsc and u could be on the way to achieving a high result
