yeah i read it somewhere on the newcastle siteclive said:fast and free (just don't download more than 360Mb a day or you will get temporarily booted. Be sure to check out the network as well. I "heard" that there are plenty of movies, music etc on it.
I would say it is a 10 Mbps optic fibre connection then?mrbassman said:yes there is int connection via the uni network, as for fast/slow it can exceed 800kBps+
Using P2P? I am too scared to do that.Cyph said:I've done 1.5-2GB at in an hour or two a few times...
no 10mbps would be too slow to support so many peopleMerethrond said:I would say it is a 10 Mbps optic fibre connection then?
I was actually talking about his connection. The main University pipe would probably be about T3 speed (44.736 Mbps) but definitely not a T1 connection (only 1.544 Mbps).Bob.J said:no 10mbps would be too slow to support so many people
Universities, research companies and other organisations are allocated T1 (or T3? i forget) connections. These are like uber fast and can withstand quite a few people downloading like mad hehe, but the bill would be quite hefty too
