have you tried resetting it??

ie

hold on --> off

then hold down menu and select until the apple logo comes up...

if that fails

try resetting on computer, you will lose everything on the ipod, but you just update it through itunes then its all good...

reset the ipod.

1. put it on hold, then take it off hold
2. press the centre and hold, press the menu and hold both the menu and the centre until the apple sign appears on the screen.

The most probable reason for this is that your Ipod was in 'Deep Sleep' mode. Turning your Ipod off at the end of the day does not actually 'Turn it off' persay, only put it on standby. This is how it starts instantly when you touch one of the buttons.

Leaving it off for > about 24 hrs turns it off, and you have to hold the buttons for 5 or so seconds for it to turn on.

Regards :)

no an easy solution has already been found.

Dont revive a thread where a solution has already been found to plug some other player which has nothing to do with the question......

SO you think an easy solution would be to spend another $400 buying a new player, when all that was needed was to reset the ipod.....?

And im sure the zen micro has many problems as well....

seriously.....

hmm... today i plugged in my iPod (after like a month i haven't used it --> studying) and it said that i got some file that was corrupt.
then it opened iTunes and when it tried to update the music that i had stored on it - it said 'unknown error -39' or something.

then i realised that it recommended me to run a chkdsk on my iPod drive. I'm happy that it now works... anyone who has this problem just type:

chkdsk [volume:] /F

in command.
