Like many many many multiple choice questions around, this one is badly worded, written by people who either dont actually know what they're talking about, or were in too big a hurry to get the test written to check the questions properly.

The problem arises from the term "access". The access to a printer on a network is actually controlled by the Directory service - Under Novel it is called NDS (Novell Directory services), under Win2k Active Directories, under Unix/linux it may be LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol). This "service" is a database where a user's "rights" are allocated and stored - including the "right" to print to a printer. Now the server(s) actullay running the directory service (ie the computer that "controls access to a printer") may or may not be a file server or a print server or they may be all of those things.

Anyway, the "most correct answer" would be .... D "Printer Server" - though the device is usually decribed as a "print server"
