Heya, I havent done maths since late year 11, and I need to do econometrics 1010 in order to complete the marketing course, as its compulsory. I was wondering if i would need to take a bridging course prior to taking this.
Also, how the hell can they teach us statistics for 1 full semester? Crazy.
Stupid maths

I did a bridging course in maths at sydney, but found it a waste of time (and money!).. there is a 'maths help' class every week for econometric students, its a great class coz the tutor's really down to earth and understanding and you cover ALL the previous weeks work.. so save yourself some dough and don't do the bridging course.. also the only thing you need to know in econometrics is basic calculus.. they'll teach you that in this maths help class.. but if you want to you can still enrol in the bridging course.. each to thier own..

they don't teach you everything about statistics obviously, it's an introductory course and very basic
the only reason so many people fail ecmt1010 is because it's so boring and you need to keep up with what's happening every week. plus with this subject it's pretty hard to study by yourself cos the textbook was dreadfully uninviting.

i did general maths for the HSC, and did ecmt1010 last year... i struggled a bit, mainly coz i was out of practice at doing some of the complex algebra... and i didnt know about the help classes!

but yeah, dont bridge - you dont really need it. if you're thinking of doing ecmt B later on, you might need some higher maths skills... but for A, you should be fine...

oh, and unlike me, make sure you go to lectures.
