Is It Possible To Get Footage On A Dvd Onto Your Desktop? (1 Viewer)

so i have a heap of surf footage on a dvd from my old vids and i want to get it back onto my computer so i can re edit it... is that possible??? is there a program i can use for this?

And wow, I spotted this thread and came in thinking you were asking about using DVD videos as a wallpaper, and was about to say you could do it with WinDVD, I misinterpreted that pretty badly

Sounds sort of promising at least, failing that googling around for Mac + DVD ripper might yield something more useful, or maybe someone else on here who actually uses a Mac will know

to rip from a DVD, use Mac the Ripper

free and does the job

I think this is what you want. Not sure how to convert the files into a format that you can edit though. Will have to have a think about that one... it would depend upon what program you use eg imovie or FCP4

if using iMovie, I would suggest the following (long and convoluted but it works-should work for FCP4 as well
Hook videocamera upto TV
Watch DVD on TV and record the stream using the camera
Import stream off camera into iMovie
edit in imovie or export to FCP4

I have a picture based tut on this at http://home.well-com.net.au/tristan/ that you can adapt for this (made the site so I dont forget stuff)
