I couldn't find anything on transferring between universities for medicine
e.g. from Adelaide to UNSW

Is this possible or are the courses too different?

yes you can.. its just under very special circumstances..
but goin from one med course to another may cause u not to do very well..
because med courses are not aligned...

so with the transfers to adelaide..
there were problems when they didnt understand some of the topics we were doing.

although its just about catchin up in ure own time..

yeah, i think transferring into unsw now is pretty much unheard of, you'd probably have to start from the beginning of year 1 again if anything because the faculty thinks its course is so different (don't take my word for this, i hadn't thought about it til now). the drop out rate last was apparently something like 10 of 220, which is pretty low by uniwide standards i think

UWA dropout rate was (anecdotally) around 10/250 last year (200 meds, 50 dentists). It'll be interesting to see who leaves this year.

You'd really only be able to pull it off on severe compassionate grounds, such as perhaps having to look after a recently paralysed mother or something. I've never met or heard of anyone that has pulled it off.

yep you have to have strong reasons e.g. family is moving from adelaide to sydney or the like...its quite hard to get a transfer

Even the above reason I doubt would count as so many students are interstaters.

On its own, no. But for the umpteenth time, the individual case is what matters - if for example you could not afford to be seperated from your family then you may have a shot.

Just put it down to "case by case basis, defaulting to no" and let it rest.
