Javascript isn't working for me on both IE and Firefox. Annoying, this means I haven't been able to rep anyone or read my mail and a whole host of things. A friend came over a few days ago to network my computers, and I don't know if that would affect my browser's ability to open javascript or not, but it hasn't been working from about that time. I did a check at www.javatester.org and it said everything was enabled, and I doubled checked that I had enabled java in both browsers, but still not able to see it.

Would anyone have any ideas about why this is happening?

Well, I do know that this happened to me once before and I am almost certain it was because of spyware.

It eventually stopped, but I couldn't pinpoint how I fixed it. I do not think I had actually removed the spyware at the time, so...

But anyway, as a starting point, do a system scan for virii and spyware.

Yeah, try:

Firefox Options -> Web Features -> Enable Javascript

Yeah, I did try that already - 'Enable Javascript' was checked. I ran a virus scan and it came up clean. The strange thing is that -both- IE and Firefox are having trouble with javascript.

hmmm.....i had a similar problem b4 too. i just looked it up 4 ya, try theses.....i cant remember if i used these commands to fix mine but it looks similar to what i done so it may work!
Go to Start/Run
"regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll" then
"regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll"
"regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll"
"regsvr32 Mshtml.dll"
"regsvr32 Urlmon.dll"
"SFC /SCANNOW" (you may need to press 'r' for retry many times)
Restart IE then "regsvr32 Shell32.dll"

also did you try microsoft.com? if not u can go there and search jscript/javascript and maybe you can find something to download that will fix the prob.

Mednez - I tried that test in IE and Firebox and got: All Browser Tests Were Successful!

sparkl3z - I followed what you posted, but it hasn't fixed the problem.

LOL I think you misread my post. The test was successful, but I still can't see Javascript. Which really means it's unsuccessful, but the test was lying. :p

This is irritating, haven't gone so long without repping anyone!

Ahah! Works when I disable Norton Internet Security! Though still not a solution, because I haven't worked out how to configure it to let Javascript through. So I guess I have to turn it off everytime I want to check email... unless someone can show me how to fix it?

*reps everyone anyone for being helpful* :)

I don't have it installed so I'm not sure where you would find the settings, but have a poke around advanced settings in NIS and see what you can find pertaining to adblock and browser control.
