Just wanna see if i'm right with these questions, they were given to me without answers.

sketch:

y = | x^2 - 2x - 8 |

y = -3/(4-x)

y = 1/x^2

First one you just draw the normal parabolic curve, but the curve can't pass to the negative y axis and it just bounces back up sort of like a reflection on the x axis

Second one is a normal hyperbola shifts 4 units to the right of where it normally is and then each ordinate is trebled

Third one is like a hyperbola except the two curves occupy the first and second quadrant. And the asymptotes are the y axis and the x axis. Essentially it is similar to a hyperbola. If it doubt use a graphical program (Graphamatica or the like) or simply plot in points.

If you are stumped on what it looks like, just look at a the base curve and it should look something like it when translated, dilated or contracted etc.

Or if you are really desparate just sub in some values
