Yes it is, but you need to make sure you are looking at the right fees (e.g. Australian Local Fee, HECS, International etc).

Everybody should vote Labor. That way the tertiary education fees will likely die in the arse. YAY! :)

HECS is the cheaper option (like $6000 or so a year on average - check the new Uni website linked on another thread here)

Full fees is the $16000 thing a year you were referring to

To be eligible to defer your HECS and receive a discount for up front payments, you must:

* have had your application for Australian citizenship approved, but have not yet attended a citizenship ceremony and made the pledge of commitment as required under the Australian Citizenship Act 1948

OR

*

be the holder of an Australian permanent visa, who:
o

will be residing in Australia during the semester (unless your course requires you to be overseas); and
o

is in Australia on enrolment day; and
o

on enrolment day, does not satisfy the residence requirements for Australian citizenship
(see Appendix A for further information) or, if you do, you first did so in the twelve months immediately preceding the enrolment day; or
o

became the holder of an Australian permanent visa before 1 January 1996, or
o

commenced your current course of study before 1 January 1996.
Unless you satisfy those you must pay your HECS upfront and do not recieve a discount, if you do you can defer it or pay upfront and recieve the 20% discount.
