Kevin Rudd has announce just seconds ago that he would NOT be standing for the leadership of the federal labor party

HOw do you think this will affect the vote? Will it improve labors chances at the next election? WHat about party unity

I saw that Beattie came out today saying that he should not run.

Rudd won't challenge Beazley
January 24, 2005 - 4:05PM

* Howard soars as chaos hits Labor vote

Kevin Rudd says he will not stand for the Labor leadership against Kim Beazley.

Mr Rudd made his announcement at Waterfront Place in Brisbane city.

Mr Rudd told reporters in Brisbane that he phoned leadership contender Kim Beazley today to tell him his decision.

``The reason I have taken that decision is very simple - I do not have enough votes,'' Mr Rudd said.

Former leader Mr Beazley is the only declared candidate so far for the opposition leader's job left vacant by Mark Latham's resignation last week.

But Mr Rudd and opposition health spokeswoman Julia Gillard have both considered running against Mr Beazley at this Friday's caucus meeting.

Mr Beazley's backers say he has the 44 votes needed to claim victory but Mr Rudd's backers have disputed their numbers.

I just hope that Julia Gillard doesn't bother. If she wins the Labor Leadership, it will cement the reputation of the Labor Party as a party who does not have the best interests of men, especially fathers, at heart, and will cost the Labor Party government in 2007.

I'm tempted to ask about the whole 'father' thing you've got going.

Phanatical - Would you care to share with the rest of us how exactly, Gillard will
cement the reputation of the Labor Party as a party who does not have the best interests of men, especially fathers, at heart, and will cost the Labor Party government in 2007.
?
Do you have any proof of this? homestly, you've been runing around for weeks (well maybe only days) goin on about how against men she is without a shred of proof, or even evidence to support you conclusion. If you DO have any, now would be the time to share. If not, shut up, as no one cares.
