Hey, i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to share notes if they have any on the following syllabus point.

How (have) shortcomings in available communication technology lead to an increased knowledge of the properties of materials with particular reference to the invention of the integrated circuit.

Any notes will be a good deal of help, but also the more detailed the better, so i can get a full understanding, thanks in advance guys.
