i need a 4 port kvm, im looking at the belkin soho one, you guys have any experience with them or know a good brand?

DON'T GET BELKIN!!!! Their KVM Switches have Issues with specific operating systems such as Linux, where is doesnt allow for the keyboard and mouse to work properly.

you going for the normal kvms with using all the 3 wires or the other type? where monitor/keyboard/mouse are all run from standard cat5 cable?

just the normal type, with the 3 wires. ive checked and we use a serverlink at work which seem to go ok with unix

Make sure whatever you get will do the highest resolution of your monitors at decent quality. Some cheap KVMs won't do high res video very well.
