What exactly are "laboratory indicators"?

In the context of The Acidic Environment, the only indicators are pH indicators.

So if by "laboratory indicators" you mean pH indicators, and by "origin" you mean "ingredient", then most indicators are made from plants. For example, litmus is extract of lichens, and both red cabbage and cranberries act as indicators. The universal indicator is a mixture of several other indicators.
