due monday, wow this assignment has just crept up on me.

what a wondeful weekend this will be.

i hope my tutor isn't marking me............she's like the equivalent of nicole graham............except she probably enjoys being a bitch.

i hope you're having good luck with it. i'm gonna start reading tomorrow.................well..............today reallly.

the essays more researchy than text booky iwr - why not just pick a question (like bill of rights), find a few relevant journal articles (preferably short if ur pressed for time) on the agis plus txt database and write ur argument tomorrow? don't stress man, i'm sure u'll pull it off

Bah, I hate this assignment.

IWR do you have that horrible.... Ms Rebak (I have no idea how to spell it, and I hate the way she refers to everyone as Ms or Mr... so impersonal and I hate my last name). Its good in the sense that I actually do the readings before class, but she doesnt ever comment on what you say.. and she doesnt seem all that lucid either... At least she is leaving.

I have just borrowed a whole bunch of books from the library with the words 'human rights' and 'bill of rights' and 'australia' in it :s

Written the draft, but oh my, I really think this is one of the worst essays I have written. Its too vague (the bill of rights one), and it doesnt even seem like a real law question: "is this a problem". Double Bah!!!!

and i kind of like having her as a tutor - at least i do my readings for her class - too scared not to! plus she doesn't seem likely to flunk u for bullshit reasons like not agreeing with her views or not doing footnotes exactly how they want them

I don't think calling someone by their surname is impersonal as such. I think she does this to reinforce the seriousness of law school teaching (i.e. it's not all just shits and giggles). They probably address students in that manner at her alma mater, Cambridge.

But having said that, I've heard some people have found her somewhat disagreeable (in teaching TPA anyway).

That's really annoying... Isn't it your right to appear lower than someone and insist on them addressing you by your given name?

I'd change my name to something horribly long, just to spite her. In fact, I'd change it to Msrebakisasillypompouswanker.

I agree re: readings. I make sure I do them, and I'm sure I know more this semester than last semester... but that might also be because a Bill of Rights is a more interesting topic than characterisation

I have to agree with this, too... We were discussing some case with Latham CJ, and she just seemed so out of the loop, like she didn't even grasp what we were discussing... and then, she wrote on the board 'Lleyton CJ'... Hello??!! Has there ever been a Lleyton CJ? She obviously has sport on the brains - have you seen those calves of her's? I wouldnt want to get into any physical altercation with her.

alright i opened up word. its a start.

just need to organise how i'm gonna answer this. luckily there's plenty of articles on the internet. i woulda been screwed otherwise if i had to make a visit to libraries and such.

i'll be here all night and most likely all day until around 4pm it seems. hopefully i get on a roll and churn out a lot of words early on.

im just going for the straight-forward no bullshit answer. and hopefully thats solid enough for ms rybek to pass

me too honey - stay and keep me company on this forum!

if u go to databases, AGIS is fantastic - you just key in the relevant words, select full-text articles only, then search - plus the great thing about it is it tells u the journals and their page numbers, so u can give pin point refs without having to track them down in the library. avoids having to ref internet sites!

i've written about 250 words which is nothing but a silly intro i can keep looking at to remember what i want to write.

editing eh?.......i don't think i'll be doing that anytime soon.

are u doing 'bill of rights?' if so, u could structure ur paragraphs to reflect answers to these questions:
--> why is the present system not enough? - not many rights under our constitution, and there are quite a few reasons to doubt that parliament is to be trusted with our rights
--> models of bills of rights: eg what's good/bad about such rights bills/acts as the US, the UK, NZ, Canada, SAfrica - i think u've only got to look at two
--> what's going on with the states - ie why NSW didn't enact a bill of rights (p.1409 of the text), the ACT rights act and the victorian one (u can just treat the vic one as an expansion of the ACT - saves words). how's it going there (ACT mainly) and should this be expanded to federal level

pp1404-1416 is a pretty good shorthand of the issues - u could use info from those pages and then use ur articles to back u up if ur short on time

cool it seems like im on the right track.

im just beginning a heading talking about the rights already provided in the constitution/legislation/common law in australia and whether they're adequate enough......is it a prob that theres no bill of rights........ie: if its inadequate is a lack of bill of rights the root of the problem etc etc

then i'll look at other countries.......how they have gone........mainly uk and us.

then yeah.......i'll see how it goes from there.

i've only done like 500....i need to pick up speed.........although i wont be sleeping so a good 14 or so hours to go. ah..........14 hours!!!!

i don't wanna be finishing right as its due.......i want it done as early as possible. although by that logic..........i would have had it done a few days ago.
