with doing any kind of ext response for lear in an exam situation, do we have to come up with a specific reading?

and in that, should we only discuss ONE? ie the psychoanalytical reading

AND do we say in our response that we kind of ACKNOWLEDGE other readings, ie mention them and say 'many ppl adopt different readings' etc?

im a little confused as to what to write in regards to a 'reading' or how many 'readings'

They do *not* specify that you must have a specific type of reading e.g psychoanalytical or nihilistic. At least not in the actual HSC, internal assessments are a whole other kettle of fish. You do need to use critical readings in your King Lear essays in the actual HSC, but which ones are largely up to you.

but I think most teachers would advise/reccomend you using a reading in the HSC.

Also readings go with productions.

well like im doing psychoanalytical and extetentialism (u know, that kind of freudian reading) and that goes hand in hand with BROOK version (cos his is absurdist) and EYRE version (cos freud relates to family etc and so does b's production) so is this right? can i just talk about all that??

The eyre version is family/psychological and the existentialism which I'm guessing is the nihilstic... Can't really thihk of a production, maybe the Harlos in Bondi.

Yes you can talk abotu all that. But I wouldn't say "Brook's is a Freudian reading of the play" you would imply it by something like:

"THe 2005 Harlos Productions direced by Michael Piggot focuses on the view that no redemption occurs in King Lear. This is represented through use of ............."

Hope it helps
