Domestic Productions:

Both played in 2004 at the Bondi Pavillion theatre.

Tempest Productions:
Played into 20th century context: war-torn Sarajevo, Bosnia.
Used modern sound effects etc. to modernise the tale of Lear so that Audiences might identify more easily with it

Harlos Productions:
Directed by Michael Piggott, this version saw oreiental conventions in costume, lighting and music. Minimalism: hardly any props, eight actors.

- International Productions:

Akira Kurosawa, 1985: The plot of Lear was adapted for the Japanese samurai genre.

Patrick Stewart, 2002: Lear is adapted for U.S television audiences, titled The King of Texas.

(The purpose of both adaptations is to bring Lear to a new audience)
