yeah, i think you can, but it seems a bit dodgy to me! it'd be easier just to find an interpretation, to be on the safe side

yes, it's perfectly acceptable. in fact, in some questios they have specifically stated to discuss the question "with reference to productions that you have seen or imagined". and also remember that it doesnt have to be an essay question - theres the possibility of a speech, a presentation, a feature article, a directorial statement etc. which would all benefit from adding in personal interpretation.
