I know this belongs in the Science forum, but I figured here more ppl would see this. Is there a restriction on the number and timings of leaves of absences, particularly for degrees in the Science faculty? (looking at Science, and Science/Arts).
For example, I'm considering applying through UAC this year in case I don't get a prereg job next year (and do not laugh, I know of a few ppl in the year above who've failed to get prereg jobs). But if I get a prereg job, of course I'd take that over study. I'm just worried what if I don't get offered a job till after I've enrolled? (again, I know someone who only got a prereg job in late Jan)
So, my questions are:
- Am I allowed to take a leave of absence in my first year? Like, there's no rule saying you can only apply for a leave of absence after x semesters of study or whatever? I know non-Year 12 applicants cannot defer a course so deferment is not an option.
- How many leaves of absences are you allowed? I only know of the 10 year rule, is anyone else aware of anything else?
- Do I even need to apply? Can I just enrol, and then drop all my subjects for both semesters before the census date?
Thanks!
