Hey,

When you use LexisNexis to find a journal article, how do u get the actual article and not just its title??

Or do we use something else to get journal articles?

Coz all I am getting is its title and info about it, not the text like!

What else would you recommend for journal articles? Thanks.

you cant get the actual article through lexis nexis i think...
i think you have to use law book co hmmmm leave it with me i have llb110 today and ill find out for you

i would suggest AEGIS fulltext or lawlex

um...yeah UOW site may be good and all..

but i'd suggest you use the UWS site since ur at uws and im assuming you woulda gone to at least one of the library classes? teaching you how to find everything - if you're talking about using LExis Nexis for the Intro assignment especially...?

if you didntr go to the library classes - the handouts are available online so check em out coz they'll explain how to find everything

UWS library page should have everything you n eed

often, if you find a jourmal article in lexis nexis and they dont have the link to the full text, you can search the title in E-resources or the catalogue or subject resources:selected internet resources and 9/10 times it'll be there

otherwise - have a look thru the suggested websites that the library suggests coz the info you need is likely to tbe on one of these - once again, if you dont know which theses are, it'll be on uni handouts available on the library page

Yeah, I had gotten the handouts from e-resources and I went to all 3 library lessons, still was lil confused as to what to use for what...as the handouts really only say what's available.. not the specific details of searching which despite my best attempts to make notes and mentally note it have become a bit hazey!

i was simply telling Angel that there's plenty available on the uws site so there's no need really to go searching other uni sites and since the resources on the uws libraryu page are placed there to help uws students, logic would tell you that the info you need is going to be there...

but hey - if you wanna get pissed off and take it personally because i suggest that a student look to their own uni resources first before searching externally... fine... be petty... i mean...of course, excuse me for applying logic....geez..

plus, ther'es no point going to other uni sites as if they're anything like the uws one, which from the sounds of it they are, you'll only be able to search the catalogue and not log into the uni e-resrouces, given the uni subscribes to them for their students and for the uws page you have to log in with ur library card

if you need help tho go to the library and ask them

they're really nice, at parra at least, one of my friends had no idea where to start her business asisgnment, she went up the librarian and said she needed help finding stuff, she got out a copy for the assignment question for her, highlighted keywords and all that stuff and got toghether a search for her and helped he out figuring out which bits were important and relevant so yeah they're heaps nice

I think UWS have their own databases.
UWS don't have LLB110 I don't think.
You'd have to give Angel your password to access certain databases as well. You weren't gonna do that were you?

I've seen their database though. Won't comment on comprehensivness.

telling her what she should have isnt as useful as saying what is at her disposal..

im not an attention whore...i mean..geez ur the one posting in another uni's forum info about your own uni's resources? how is that useful to a uws student knowing that uow has such resources? its more useful knowing what resources are actually avaible as a uws student...
