Practice watching a documentary and taking notes, or listening to a tape of anything really and take notes. You should play it twice as this is probably how many times it will be played to you during the task.

I don't know how you do it but there are people who:

1st listening - Just listen, during the rewinding and time to write they just write everything
2nd listening - Take all the things they missed and add it on

or there are other people who continuously write throughout the listening

Hmmm... do you mean, AOS? 'Cause otherwise, I have no idea what an "AOF" is...

Anyway...

I have teachers that MAKE us do this... it all depends on what your teacher will do, I suppose. And read through the question booklet/sheets/whatever BEFORE they start playing the tape, 'cause then you'll know what you're looking for. :)

Yeah, 'tis rather. We were told not to pick up a pen during the first reading, though that was junior years. Can't remember if they made us do it in Year 11...

I dunno, I suppose they think we won't miss anything, unlike if we were just scribbling away furiously the whole time...?

Who knows the minds of English teachers.

From my experience, read the questions that are asked so you know what you're looking for, continuously take notes thorughout both times it's played and pay attention to anything said and look for techniques as this is very commonly asked especially in a listening task related to journeys.

Keep your ears open.
Watch out for people trying to fight for the seat closest to the stereo player.
take good notes and try to answer them whilst its playing.
