Are you looking for a NEW car or a USED car?

Are you after performance or fuel economy?

What will you be using the car for? i.e. carrying heaps of people, just to work?

Is safety or style a prerequisite to your decision?

We're gonna need heaps more information about your preferences if you want any meaningful advice.

I got my 'new' ( well new for me, its used ) car for $3000. first thing I would try is ask friends and family are selling their cars, cos u could get mates rates, like I did.

I got a ( well I bought for family and they paid me back ) a 96 magna se, 4 cylinder, auto ( yeah im quite the manual noob ) with 50,000k's for just $3000 when its value is double that.

I think a base VW golf just scrapes $26000. I know it's $1000 more, but it's a very good car for that price especially in safety.

If not, you might want to see the mazda 2, the swift or even a VW polo.
