Can anyone please explain how the Meissener effect and superconductivity is used in maglev Trains. I know that this phenomenon is used but how do you explain it? I've read text books but i don't understand

possible answer?

from what ive read the meissener effect is when a current starts to flow in the superconductor it produces a magnetic feild inside which cancels out the original magnetic feild inside a superconductor.hence the superconductor is always zero

hence when u place a magnet near a superconductor (ie the railing of a mag lev train near the superconductors situated under the train) there is a repulsion between the magnet and the superconductor. hence the levitation and as in induction motors the changing magnetic feild helps pull the train along at up to speeds of 500Km/h

there are two types used the electromagnetic suspension system used in europe and the electrodynamic suspension system used in japan. i dont think u need to know these two...

The meissner effect is the property that superconductors have where if you put a magnet in close proximity to it, a current is induced. This in turn produces a magnetic field, which has the same polarity as the original field that caused the current. This causes the magnet to levitate above the superconductor.

think about it and relate it to the train as bazman said.
