I'll be doing B. Science (3970) majoring in pharmacology.
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/plans/2005/PHPHA13970.html

There is one thing that I don't understand. In the enrolment guide I was sent in the mail, it said that MATH1031 and MATH1041 was recommeded for the first year.

However, looking at the online program for the second year, it states that "6 UOC Level 1 MATH(not including MATH1041)" is a requirement before Physiology 1A - PHPH2101 I'm allowed to enrol in this course next year.
http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/2005/PHPH2101.html

So that's what I don't get.

Either MATH1041 is accepted and I can enrol into PHPH2101 with only MATH1041 - as recommended by the 2005 enrolment guide.

Or the 6 UOC of maths given by MATH1041 is not acceptable, so says the online handbook.

Although the Science Table A for a major in pharmacology says "Plus 6 units of credit from Level I Mathematics".
https://www.my.unsw.edu.au/student/resources/ScienceTableA.pdf

And I'm somewhat confused and worried at the moment as I don't want to go through the annoying task of re-organising my timetable lol.

Much thanks in advanced. Much appreciated too :)

First of all I want to congratulate you on choosing Science at UNSW! I'm sure you'll find it fascinating.

In order for you to major in pharmacology, do ned to do Physiology 1A - PHPH2101. The 6 uoc MATHS means you have to at least do 1 MATHXXXX subject worth 6 uoc. This excludes MATH1041 Statistics. So you can do any other maths such as suggested MATH1031. It doesn't mean that if you do MATH1031 AND MATH1041 during your degree that you will be denied in doing Physio 1A. It simply means that you MUST do maths other than 1041. I hope you know what I mean. In the suggested subjects, the recommand you to do MATH1041 because it maybe useful during or later on in your degree. So in conclusion, you must do ONE 6 uoc maths that is not 1041, and if you want to do 1041 as well, that is fine also. You don't have to do 1041. However, if you just do 1041, you won't be able to do physio 1A.

I hope this helps!

i wanted to major in pharmacology, but i couldn't enrol into my third pharmacology subject phph3101 (rational drug design) to fulfil the 18uoc requirements for a major because of some stupid error, and there are only three pharmacology courses in the third stage :S just thought you'd like to know that

Physiology and Pharamacology have the same subject code - PHPH - so just enrol all possible PHPH subjects and you'll be fine. And plus tey go hand in hand anyway.

And isn't PHPH3101 not offered anymore? Check the online handbook for 2005.

yeah i know they have the same subject code, but seeing as only i have two pharmacology courses and 4 physiology courses it would only be like a physiology major and a pharmacology minor, and also the handbook displays a 404 error when you try to look up phph3101
