Hello,

When writing a hypothesis, should exact or approximate values be used?
For e.g. I wrote "the hypothesis developed proposed that acetylsalicylic acid content was ~300mg per tablet based on..."
In this case, should I be using the approximate or remove it and state "was 300mg per etc."

If your calculation is based on exact numbers then put the exact number. If it was based on some approximations you made then you would say its approximately equal to.

Either case it is not that important as in an experiment you won't really ever get the exact number due to variability
