ok, it seems that a few people is having trouble making a timetable for their units, so here is a quick guide as to how to do it

from the handbook site, you can check the timetable for the units you want to enroll in...
an example; say unit econ111

http://www.timetables.mq.edu.au/class/2005/ttmaker/showfullunit.asp?UnitPrefix=ECON&UnitNum=111

notice: ECON111 / S / 2 / D

this means for the unit econ 111, it is offered at day time (D), second semester
if you want a night time schedule, look below and you will see;
ECON111 / S / 2 / E
The E stands for evening

OK, now you know what those weird symbols are, you can go and pick times for your lectures and tutes (pracs too if it is required)

an example; say unit accg 1000

http://www.timetables.mq.edu.au/class/2005/ttmaker/showfullunit.asp?UnitPrefix=ACCG&UnitNum=100

and you wanted to pick day time, you obiviously look at ACCG100 / F / 1 / D

now, there are headings like lecture_1 and lecture_2

these are the lectures offered by this unit, so you are "required" to attend both lects during the course of this uni :rolleye:
so you have no choice but to stick this time into your timtable

now here comes the tutorial part
see how they have like 50million different tutorial times??
you can only pick one, yes, anyone one of them as long as they are under TUTORIAL_1

obiviously, say when you enroll and that particular time is full, you might have to change it to another time, cos tutorial can't fit like 150 people in it

OK, after all that is done with the diff units you go and enrol

but here are some tips

notice back on the accg 100 site; there is ACCG100 / F / 1 / D and ACCG100 / F / 1 / E

if say for friday you have something to do in the morning and can't make it to that lecture, you are allow to go to the evening one on monday night cos they teach the same stuff
as for attending different tute times, i'm not too sure because some units makr attendance and some don't, so check with the unit co ordinator after you've enrolled

also be careful when you read the Unit / Period / Half / Offering title

take an example comp 125

http://www.timetables.mq.edu.au/class/2005/ttmaker/showfullunit.asp?UnitPrefix=COMP&UnitNum=125

just make sure you are reading the right time, cos a lot of people made that mistake and it slows down the process of enrollment

and just answering the quesiton in the other thread

yes, once you've picked the tutes, prac..you stick by them till the end of the unit
of course, you can always change the time on estudent if the class have space...

if anyone wants to add any commment, feel free

happy enrolling

you will see from diff units have diff amount of contact hours

i don't knwo how many times i've said this but heres the process:

1. you receive your offer letter;
2. then you are told to go to the uni in person and hand in the slip on the letter letting them know your accepting your offer;
3. they will give you an enrolment package with forms and instructions on how to enrol (which you do on another day);
4. then you go into your allocated day and time for when you enrol where you tell them what units you are doing, give in some forms, and tell them of your proposed timetable. most likely your timetable will not be exactly how you want it but don't stress because you will be able to change it later on online.

The handout you were given should have a similar system to that page ... gave you.

Basically find your degree, click on the Program of Study (usually in the form of XXX##, where X = letters, # = numbers, ie, EDU03)

It will list the cores, that is the compulsory units needed to complete and be awarded the relevant degree. As well as other requisites for the award.

If it's at Mac Threatre then 450+ (if everyone turns up). But the numbers will drop off as the semester progresses.
