help!

equation is:

4800 - Y = 4 [ 9000/P - .5Y ] .

answer is: Y = 1600 + 12000/P .

please show me the steps for getting the answer.

4800 - Y = 4 [ 9000/P - .5Y ]

4800 - Y = 36000/P - 2Y, on expansion of the bracket.

rearranging, we get,
Y = 36000/P - 4800

?? maybe the answer is wrong, or i have just embarrased myself. :s

Rahul, you haven't embarrased yourself.

Mouse, check the question. It works if the question was Y - 4800 = 4[(9000 / P) - 0.5Y]
