http://www.forbes.com/2003/09/24/bschooland.html and click 'Post MBA Salary'.

The differences are crazy. For Harvard students, average pre MBA Salary is $US60k. Four years later the average is $195k. The other top uni's have similar increases.

Anyone familiar with the exact process of enrolling in an MBA program at a US university? From what I've seen, it's a combination of GMAT, Work Exp, an interview and academic record? Anything else?

And is it worth going to the USA or is the Australian Graduate School of Management on par with the ivy league uni's of the USA? (It would also be a much cheaper alternative)

masters of business administration, though to get into an ivy league business school you would probably need a large company to sponsor you and to put in a good word

intelligence may or may not be required, george w bush got an MBA at harvard busienss school

yeah i remember seeing a statistic somewhere of the % of MBA students sponsored by a parent company but I forget it. It was quite a lot though.

on the AGSM homepage it says 'AGSM is a School of both the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales. Does this mean that the lecturers at AGSM come from both Usyd and UNSW?

Or does it just mean that these two uni's orginally established the business school?

uts offers an MBA :)

ill think about it, or go to a "proper uni" and do it after i get my bachelor
you generally need to have about 5 or so years of industry experience before undertaking an MBA. MBA's are designed for experienced professionals looking to upgrade their skills for managemnt positions

I know someone from America was out here doing an MBA (he was from Canada), because it is just too hard and expensive to do it in the USA universities.

this site http://www.whichmba.com.au/ offers some comparison of the australian mba offerings.

i was always under the impression if you had enough $ you could get into any course in the US, i could be wrong though. there was (and maybe still is) an australian entrepreneur award that had a harvard mba as first prize. youd have to be pretty successful to win that though.

i would like to do an mba but not for about 5 years, for the reasons minai said

mbas are the Law degree of Post-Grads. They are overrated.

MBAs obtained at a good uni (like harv'd etc), will pretty much get you into a fantastic job. Why, however, must be asked. It's probably 51% the fact that you did a Masters of business, with a specialisation, and 49% of the fact that you met other pretentious snobs who will only hire out of their own fantastic uni.

In terms of difficulty, MBAs take up only a few classes, but mostly assignments and a thesis.

BUT-

Who has an MBA-
George Bush,
My dad.

Neither are sucessful when it comes to business, so it's a total wank when it comes to showing how Businessesque you will be in life.

BUT-
both are huge money-wise, because they have those three letters which entitled them to networking and snobbery.
