mechanics is really doing my head in

How do you know when to integrate the given form in question and the general form?

For example, in the questions below, one of them they integrate the given acceleration, and in the other one they don't integrate the given acceleration, which is a=-16x, rather the general acceleration formula. why is that and how do you know when to integrate what?

thanks

oh, they have integrated in both answers. It just that they haven't included the integral sign and working in the second photo. They integrated with respect to dx and then just showed the answer.

Well the question was probably asking you to either find an expression for velocity, or find maximum velocity or maybe even other stuff like amplitude but basically whenever it asks you to prove something you always have to look at the variables in the required expression.

If there is no time quantity you would use d/dx(0.5v^2) or v times dv/dx.. it really takes a lot of practice....

also i hate SHM as well, its a bit boring. Projectile motion, vertical resisted motion are the best ones .....

um why didn't they integrate a=-16x using 0/5v^2 so you don't need to find D and all that, and instead integrated n^2(x-c) ?
and thanks for your answer

man i'm going to be vertically challenged with how much i'm going to be sitting at my desk

Can you please send me the whole question so I can have a look, then I can give u a detailed explanation for it [ I will try my best:) ]

Oh lol, you definetly are going to start to enjoy mechanics more, so sitting at your desk won't seem like a nightmare lol
