hey everyone
im thinking about doing mechatronic engineering at uws (penirth) or computer engineering. I dont knoe much about mechatronic in terms of career prospect, pay, etc. But i heard its a hybrid of computer, electrical and mechanical, which appeals to me as its very broad and jobs should be plenty compared to computer wihci is computer based and rumours of congestion in the i.T industry and jobs are scarce.

Any opinions,
thanks + have a happy new year.

yeah i was in your situation as well

i was offered a scholarship for computer engineering at uts... but i turned it down for mechatronics at either uts or usyd.

mechatronics is a specialised course... and right now, there arent very many jobs, r they're scarce, but keep in mind its a pretty new field of engineering... only 2 or 3 years old i believe...

bozo why u doing it at uws?
that would only mean that you gotta uai in the 60s.
dearo dearo me.
well i hope your maths is good, otherwise your just gonna fail, fail and fail more, and u wont even have to think about career mate.. hahahahh LOL im serious, i have friends with 90s uai who went and did engineering at unsw and failed faied and failed more.
now they wished they did something else.
unless you got good for maths in the hsc, good meaning band 5/6, then i suggest you dont do engineering for your own sake.

PS: 70% of people who do enginerring fail and do not graduate.

peace^^

Thanks dreamer and tooheyz for the info etc, i don't care about the statistics of other people, i know that ive got the determination to do it, and will apply myself, and yes i choose uws because its heaps closer, only 15mins drive from my house, saves me time and money driving to the city and back or public transport. And penrith has a robotics lab which is an added benefit.
Also my uai was 74.20.
i got 82 for 2unit maths, but i'm willing to do a brdiging course, maths for engineers, i like maths.
I know you're trying to be helpful dingo, but try to be a bit nicer and don't jump to conclusions. ;)

alright bozo, i didnt intend to offend or n e thing, i was trying to help you not choose engineering as i have seen many of my friends drown in that hard course. But guess its up to you, if you love it so much then go do it, and good luck to you my friend.

peace^^
