Was wondering, what would be the general benefits of doing a commerce/engo degree ? I'm asking it terms of how they complement each other, their relevance to the workplace for either degree, etc. I'm interested in engineering, and to some extent commerce. Thinking of doing it at UNSW, it that makes any difference.

Thanks in advance.

Commerce is good if you plan on climbing the corporate ladder which becomes less and less about actual engineering as you go on. The bad part is that you have to go for an extra year and you cant pick any electives for your engineering degree unless you want to overload or study more than five years, electives are the most interesting part of the degree as well.

However people with engineering degrees can also climb the corporate ladder. Personal choice really depends on what you want to do after you graduate.

p.s. commerce degrees can help if you plan on project management.
