since like 50% of windows users of wat ever use ie and gates will release pop up or web ads block, ad commpanies will not make money. and blame unfair competitive advantage or watever u cakk it on gates. so there will be no adblocking ie. :(

Windows XP SP2 patches IE to block pop ups.

So, they've actually already released it, for quite some months now.

I don't mind too much about popup windows that's an actual window because i can already block that. But I hate those Flash or Java popups that would draw over a web page because they can slip pass.

They're all quite bad :) Quite a few pop ups get past Firefox too.

But nonetheless, the feature is already there in IE and Firefox for what it can block.

Has anyone noticed that Firefox lets some popups go through regardless?
One example I can think of is www.mess.be where sometimes a popup will come up and other times it won't. And yes I have popups on blocked so I'm annoyed and confused.

yes but with the exception that the pop ups don't block your vision and actually goes behind the screen you are looking at, so it's good enough for me.
It will be impossible to lock out all popups

Indeed. "Pop-under" windows seem to not be affected by the Firefox popup blocker, most of the time.
