Mid-Year Applications - How do they work?

I'm curious about how exactly enrolling into Uni for study in Semester 2 works.

Does it mean that you're dropped into classes which have been running for half the year, thus putting you months behind everyone else in study, or are seperate classes started in the second semester?

Does the required UAI vary much between the first round of offers in January and those for mid-term enrolments?

Any info would be welcome.

The year is split up int 2 semester. Its not like high school where all your classes run for the whole year. You have your classes that frun from March-June and then have exams, a break and then you have ur 2nd semester classes that run from ~ Aug-Oct then exams. So you will not be behind in any classes becuase you start brand new ones every semester.
Ok cool, but how does not having done the first semester's work affect one's performance in the courses once the whole thing is finished after 3-4 years?

Ah I see, so say a 3 year course ends in Semester 2 2009, people who entered the course mid-year would finish their course in Semester 1 2010?

Thanks alot for the info netstar.
