MS Word Help (1 Viewer)

When I click on for example "Heading 1" in the formatting bar and try typing the text stays in the normal size 12 font, and it happens for all headings. Its been like this for ages and its starting to annoy me, does anybody know how I can fix it?
EDIT: The version is 2000

have you tried to edit the styles?
