I'm currently studying Music 2 which has a mandatory composition of max 2 minutes.
I've composed around 1:20 and I'm just hating how it currently sounds. My main idea (briefly) is fusion music of both Korean traditional music and Western style music with a small narrative behind it. I did have a composition and portfolio progress check recently and didn't do too badly on it but right now I'm on a huge mental block and I don't know how to continue with the composition.
I guess my main questions really are:
- What are the main features that the markers are trying to see in the composition? (I know that the marking criteria exists but it's really broad)
- What helps you get a high mark?
- For anyone who’s done or is doing Music 2, how did you approach your composition, and where did you draw inspiration from?
I think since the composition is meant to be experimental, I'm just not really comfortable with the way it is sounding right now + I'm not a very confident in composition (more confident in performance and musicology/theory). Any advice will be very appreciated!!
